Would they let me rent the movie?

I was at hastings and I was going to rent The Ex but they only had an unrated copy. I didn't end up getting it. I'm also 14. And u have to have an adult with u to rent rated R movies.( which is obvious). But if I did bring it up to the counter to rent it, would they have let me?
