Do MOST people think today that lobbyists control congress, parliaments and the presidant and prime minister?

how this was different in the 1980s during the "Cold War" , for example...or was it perceived differently only? when , how developed this idea that big corporations control everything? how this is becoming more and more believed by everybody? is this due to the media letting us in on this perception more with Michael Moore etc? or is this just an inevitable unveiling something that was already half covered?
